CLEAN CURRENTS OFFERS PEPCO CUSTOMERS A CHANCE TO SAVE MONEY ON ELECTRICITY WHILE GOING GREEN!
Wind Energy Rates are Currently Lower than New Pepco Maryland Summer Residential Rates

Rockville, Maryland (February 10, 2009) – Maryland Pepco residential customers can now sign up for wind power at rates that are below Pepco’s new summer rates, Clean Currents announced today. This means that people can support a cleaner environment while saving money on their electric bill.

For the average Maryland home, the Clean Currents rates would save them approximately $10 to $15 a month when Summer rates are in effect. *

Pepco’s new announced Summer rate for 2009 is 13.159 cents per Kilowatt-hour (kWh). Clean Currents current rate for its Chesapeake Green residential 100% wind power is 11.7 cents/kWh for a one year contract and 12.1 cents/kWh for a two year contract. The Clean Currents offer is a fixed price for the entire length of the contract.

Clean Currents President, Gary Skulnik said, “Protecting the environment has never been easier. People can save money while buying wind power. That’s a green grand slam!”

To sign up, people simply go to www.cleancurrents.com and click on “residential.” It only takes a few minutes to complete the enrollment process (you will need your Pepco Account #). Once switched, there will be no interruption of service. Power outages are still fixed by Pepco, and billing is still handled by Pepco. The only difference is that people will save money and be supporting clean, renewable wind power.

Chesapeake Green (C-Green) is a carbon neutral electricity option for people in the Chesapeake region. C-Green combines standard electricity from the Mid Atlantic grid (the PJM grid) with Renewable Energy Credits (“RECs” or “green tags”) from wind farms situated across the United States, bundled together and supplied by Washington Gas Energy Services, a licensed retail energy supplier in MD and DC. This bundled product helps fight global warming by offsetting the carbon emissions from your electricity use with clean, renewable wind power.
